Lapis

Today mines in northeast Afghanistan and Pakistan are still the major source of lapis lazuli. The major mineral in lapis, is lazurite, minor minerals are calcite, pyrite and a few other very minor minerals. the basic formula for lapis is (Na,Ca)₈Al₆Si₆O₂₄(S,SO)_4.
