A great gemstone at that, Bundles of fibers make up rod like structures within the regular wood grain. Depending on how the raw material is cut causes interesting variations. The stones may be polka dotted, have angular slashes, straight rods and more. Petrified Palm Root is the state stone of Texas and the state fossil of Louisiana.
