African Queen Picture Jasper comes from the Kalahari desert in Namibia, South Africa. This material has been around since the late 60's. It has swirling base colors that consist of tans, creams, browns, and blacks. Often with dendrites that give this material the feel of a desert scene. This material resembles some of the Owyhee jaspers from the Owyhee Mountains along the Idaho/Oregon border or the Biggs jasper that was sold by Sami Tsubota at Biggs Junction Oregon. over the years we have also herd this material called Kalahari Picture Stone. African Queen takes a good polish and makes impressive large cabs as well as nice small cabs.
