Sunstone

Sunstone is an interesting member of the feldspar family. Sunstone is a plagioclase feldspar. It is usually an orange or reddish color. The glittery color effect is called Schiller and comes from inclusions of the mineral hematite. It is sometimes included with goethite or pyrite. Some of the Oregon sunstones are green, bright red or a green red mix called watermelon.
